| About Me |
|
I am Jersey born, educated at Convent FCJ and I am 63 years young. I have lived in St. Clement for over 30 years. I worked at the Housing Department when I left school, and one many of the jobs I undertook, was that of a rent collector. I got to know many of the tenants very well, and, in fact, when I got married, I received many cards from them. Unfortunately, my dear husband Clary died at the very young age of 46, so I have now been a widow for 19 years. I am lucky enough to have two married daughters, and three grand-daughters. Although I did not work while my girls were young, I did get involved in several voluntary causes. My late husband and I were great participants in the Beaulieu PTA and organised many events for them. I have also been involved with the Battle of Flowers for over 40 years, firstly with the Beeches Old Boys (my husband, not me!) and then with St. Clement. The run up to the I worked in the Jersey Citizen’s Advice Bureau, in its early days at the Town Hall, and I was Assistant Manager for a number of years. I was then invited to become a volunteer with Jersey Hospice Care, where I still work in the in-patients wing. I was on the Council of Jersey Hospice Care for 16 years, but retired six years ago. I was employed at a doctors' surgery, as a receptionist/secretary, a job which was very satisfying and enjoyable, as you got to meet people from all walks of life. I feel that with all the different paths my life has taken I was well equipped to deal with problems that might occur within the Parish. During my time in the States Assembly, I have spoken out against large developments in the Parish, and the increase on GST. I have also had a successful amendment to the Island Plan to have a feasibility study undertaken at Snow Hill Car Park, to see how the car park could be extended, and perhaps a new entrance made to Fort Regent I am very pleased that we have a 30 mile hour speed limit, something that I know the majority of Parishioners were very much in favour of. I believe that I am compassionate, considerate, caring and most of all, have a lot of common sense, and if re-elected I will continue to do my best to represent all Parishioners, and to help anyone who asks for my assistance. |
