| About Me |
|
I am Jersey born, educated at Convent FCJ and I am now 61 years young. I have lived in St. Clement for over 30 years. I worked at the Housing Department when I left school, and one many of the jobs I undertook, was that of a rent collector. I got to know many of the tenants very well, and, in fact, when I got married, I received many cards from them. Unfortunately, my dear husband Clary died at the very young age of 46, so I have now been a widow for 16 years. I left the Housing Department when I was expecting my first daughter, Carolyn. She is married, with two daughters, and is a teacher at JCG Prep. My second daughter, Melissa, is also married, with one daughter, but she lives in New Jersey. Although I was lucky enough not to have to work while my girls were young, I did get involved in several voluntary causes. My late husband and I were very involved with the Beaulieu PTA and organised many events for them. I have also been involved with the Battle of Flowers for over 40 years, firstly with the Beeches Old Boys (my husband, not me!) and then with St. Clement. The run up to the Battle is great, with a lovely friendly atmosphere and meeting up with people you only see at that time of year. I worked in the Jersey Citizen’s Advice Bureau, in its early days at the Town Hall, and I was Assistant Manager for a number of years. I was then invited to become a volunteer with Jersey Hospice Care, where I still work in the in-patients wing. I was on the Council of Jersey Hospice Care for 16 years, but retired three years ago. I have been working at a doctors' surgery for 17 years now, a job which is very satisfying and enjoyable, as you get to meet people from all walks of life. I feel that with all the different paths my life has taken I am well equipped to deal with problems that might occur within the Parish. I believe that I am compassionate, considerate, caring and most of all, have a lot of common sense.
